What would you do if your pet was lost?  Would you know how to find her?  The first thing to do is make sure he or she has proper identification.  And then take these steps to make your search successful.

Low Cost Care

Many veterinarians, communities, and animal welfare organizations are willing to work with people who need financial assistance for veterinary services.  Contact these local organizations for detailed information and to obtain a certificate to have your pet spayed or neutered by a participating veterinarian at a reduced fee.

Spay / Neuter

Spaying or neutering your pet is the responsible thing to do.  Pets that have been "fixed" are happier and healthier.  They don't roam, spray or exhibit other unpleasant behaviors.   For more information see out our Spay/Neuter Q&A.

Still not convinced?  Check out "The First Cat" from our Spring 2008 Newsletter!

60% of American households have pets according to the ASPCA, and there are about 400,000 households in jeopardy of foreclosure.
NEVER leave a pet behind when you vacate a home. You can face cruelty charges when the mortgage lender takes possession of the home and even worse, your pet may end up being euthanized.

If you must move, look for pet friendly housing or rentals from organizations like these:

People with Pets
Rent with Pets (associated with HSUS).

Studies have found that pets improve the emotional and physical well being of their owners, especially among the elderly.

Petting your cat or dog lowers blood pressure, reduces anxiety and may even reduce pain.
